Flash Mx Exercise 1 - Creating A Shape Tween

Open Flash MX

1 Click on Frame 1 in the Timeline Window
Flash Time Line

2 Convert this to a Keyframe
From the menus select Modify - Frames -Convert to Keyframes or press F6

3 Select the Text Tool
- click in the middle of the Scene Window
- set the font to Verdana 48pt and type the letter A.

4 To Shape Tween we need to break an object apart
From the menus select Modify - Break Apart
Select the Arrow tool

5 We must set a second keyframe to end the Shape Tween
Click on frame 30 in in the Timeline
Convert this to a keyframe
From the menus select Modify - Frames -Convert to Keyframes or press F6

6 Click on the first keyframe
In the Properties Windows select Shape from the Tween drop box
Flash Property Window

7 Select the A in Frame 30
Click on the Free Transform Tool
You should change the shape of the A by dragging the various handles around the object.
You can also change its colour by selecting from the Colour menu

8 You can run your Shape Tween by hitting the Enter key

9 Save your file
